Dota 2 7.41e Item Tier List: Best Buys After the Patch
Patch 7.41e landed right after TI 2026 and the item changes hit harder than most people noticed. Divine Rapier stacking is dead. Refresher Shard lost all its bonus stats. The entire Kaya family took a mana regen hit. Meanwhile Abyssal Blade quietly became one of the best items in the game, Eye of Skadi got a stronger slow, and Veil of Discord is now almost free to cast.
If you are still buying the same items you were in 7.40, you are playing a different game from the people climbing right now. This guide breaks down every item change in 7.41e, who wins, who loses, and exactly what to build if you want free MMR in the post-TI window.
We run TeamSmurf’s Dota 2 boosting service — our Immortal boosters play hundreds of ranked games every patch. The picks and items in this guide reflect what is actually working in high-MMR lobbies right now, not theory-crafting.

7.41e Item Changes: The Full Picture
Valve dropped 7.41e as a balance patch in the post-TI window — the period right after The International 2026 where Team Spirit claimed their third Aegis. These patches tend to shake up the pub meta hard because Valve uses them to address what the pro scene discovered at TI.
The 7.41e item changes can be grouped into three clear themes:
- Killing the Rapier stack cheese. Multiple Divine Rapiers on the same hero no longer stack their spell amplification. This was a niche but real game plan for intelligence carries and it is dead.
- Nerfing mana regen amplification across the board. Kaya, Kaya and Sange, Yasha and Kaya, and Meteor Hammer all had their mana regen amplification reduced. Spell casters who relied on those numbers for sustain will feel this every game.
- Buffing physical right-click items. Abyssal Blade got a straight strength buff, Eye of Skadi has a stronger slow, Hand of Midas gives more attack speed. Right-click carries are quietly in a better spot than they were in 7.41d.
There are also several support-level changes worth knowing: Urn of Shadows, Essence Distiller, and Spirit Vessel no longer grant charges when sitting in your stash. Smoke of Deceit now has a fixed disguise duration — no more extending it with buff duration amplifiers.

Item Winners: What Got Buffed
Abyssal Blade — Quiet S-Tier Upgrade
Strength bonus went from +26 to +30. That is four points of strength on an item that already gives you a guaranteed stun, a passive bash chance, and Break on the active. For strength carries like Sven, Dragon Knight, Lifestealer, and Wraith King, this pushes Abyssal even further above the alternatives.
The math matters: four extra strength is +80 HP and +0.12 HP regen passively. On top of the existing stats, Abyssal Blade now costs about 6,000 gold and gives you the tankiest, most kill-threatening physical item in the game. Build it second or third on any right-click carry that needs lockdown.
Eye of Skadi — Better Slow for the Same Price
Cold Attack’s attack speed slow increased from 20% to 25%. That may sound small but attack speed slow is one of the most underrated defensive stats in Dota — it directly reduces how fast carries hit you in a teamfight. On heroes who already buy Skadi (Morphling, Medusa, Phantom Lancer, ranged carries in general), this is a passive upgrade with no cost change.
If you were on the fence about Skadi versus another item, the slow buff pushes it over the edge. Build it whenever you need both HP and range-restriction on a physical hero.
Hand of Midas — 40 Attack Speed Now
Attack speed bonus went from +35 to +40. Not a game-changer on its own, but Midas was already a viable early buy on carry heroes who farm efficiently. The extra five attack speed helps transition into your core items faster by improving farming efficiency and early skirmish threat.
Troll Warlord in particular benefits here — his Battle Trance now also gives 35% slow resistance (a separate hero buff), making him one of the clearest winners of 7.41e. Midas into Troll right-click build is extremely efficient right now.
Veil of Discord — Practically Free to Cast
Spell Weakness’s mana cost dropped from 50 to 25. This matters most on supports who were running Veil as a cheap amplification item. The lower cost means you can use it every fight without worrying about your mana pool. On intelligence supports, 25 mana is nothing. On strength supports, this halves the cost of using your best teamfight tool.
Veil was already one of the best utility support items at around 2,100 gold. The mana cost reduction makes it even easier to justify the purchase in almost any lineup with multiple spell-based heroes.
Orb of Venom and Orb of Corrosion — Lane Dominance Buffs
Orb of Venom: Poison damage per second increased from 10 to 12. Orb of Corrosion: health restoration reduction increased from 16% to 18%. Both are early game lane pressure items, and both got slightly stronger. If you are playing an aggressive offlaner or a position 4 who buys Orb of Corrosion, your lane deny and kill pressure just went up.
The health restoration reduction on Corrosion is the more interesting change — it directly counters healing items like Ring of Tarrasque and Urn of Shadows in the early game, which are common starting items in the current meta.
Heaven’s Halberd — Marginally Better
Disarm cooldown decreased from 16s to 15s. Minor but relevant: against right-click cores, every second of reduced cooldown on the disarm matters in extended fights. Halberd is not in the top tier of items right now, but this keeps it relevant as an off-meta situational buy.
Crella’s Crozier — Underrated Buff
Two changes: Rite of Rumusque movement speed steal duration increased from 1.5s to 2s, and Putrefaction Aura effect increased from 75% to 90%. This is a newer item that has not seen much pub play yet — the aura buff in particular could make it a stronger pickup for supports who are itemizing for kill pressure. Worth experimenting with in pubs if you play a lot of position 4.
Item Losers: What Got Nerfed
Divine Rapier — Multi-Stack Strategy is Dead
The change: spell amplification from multiple Divine Rapiers no longer stacks. Previously, buying a second or third Rapier would keep adding to your spell amp, making it an interesting late-game play for intelligence carries who could snowball through 80+ minutes. That is gone.
In practice this was not mainstream, but it had a real following on heroes like Storm Spirit, Puck, and Zeus in those ultra-long games where both teams refuse to end. Now a second Rapier gives you nothing except more damage — and at 6,200 gold a piece, the opportunity cost is too high. Build your first Rapier when you need the kill power, then spend gold on something else.
Refresher Shard — Gutted to Just a Refresh
This is the biggest support nerf in 7.41e. Refresher Shard previously gave +12 Health Regen, +6 Mana Regen, and +20 Damage on top of the cooldown reset. All three bonus stats are gone. The item now does exactly one thing: reset your cooldowns.
The practical impact: supports who bought Refresher Shard partly for the stat value need to find another item for those numbers. The shard is still situationally useful if you have an ultimate worth refreshing (Ravage, Black Hole, Reverse Polarity), but it is no longer a default buy for carries or utility heroes who were getting both the reset and the free stats.
Kaya Family — Mana Regen Amplification Nerfed Across the Board
Every Kaya-based item took a hit:
- Kaya: Mana Regen Amplification 30% — down from 30% to 20%
- Kaya and Sange: Mana Regen Amplification 40% — down from 40% to 30%
- Yasha and Kaya: Mana Regen Amplification 40% — down from 40% to 30%
- Meteor Hammer: Mana Regen Amplification 35% — down from 35% to 25%
Kaya itself is primarily an intelligence hero item, and the 10-point reduction in mana regen amplification is noticeable when you are casting spells every 10-15 seconds. Heroes like Lina, Queen of Pain, and Skywrath Mage who were itemizing Kaya for mana sustain will feel the mana pressure more in 7.41e. You may need Arcane Boots or an additional mana regen source earlier than before.
Meteor Hammer specifically is a support item that several offlaners were running for the disable. The mana regen nerf pushes it further toward pure-int heroes and away from mana-inefficient offlaners.
Satanic — 10-Second Cooldown Increase
Unholy Rage cooldown went from 30s to 40s. Satanic is still one of the best right-click survivability items in the game — the lifesteal on a big attack damage hero basically unkills you. But the longer cooldown means you have a bigger window of vulnerability between uses.
If your game plan was Satanic spam in teamfights, you now need to be more deliberate about when you activate it. Build it on carries who can realistically wait 40 seconds between big teamfights — strength carries in particular. For carries who fight every 20-30 seconds, consider whether Blade Mail or another survivability option fits your style better.
Mask of Madness — Ranged Heroes Lose More Than Melee
Two changes that affect ranged heroes disproportionately:
- Berserk movement speed bonus on ranged heroes decreased from 8% to 6%
- Berserk now provides 15% slow resistance for ranged heroes (down from the previous 30% for everyone)
Melee heroes still get 30% slow resistance on Berserk, which is unchanged. The asymmetric change makes MoM noticeably weaker on ranged right-click carries. It is still viable on heroes like Drow Ranger or Sniper who need the attack speed for burst windows, but the reduced kiting power hurts. Melee carries like Troll Warlord and Phantom Assassin are unaffected and MoM remains excellent on them.
Butterfly — Stat Redistribution (Net Neutral for Most)
Agility decreased from +35 to +30, Damage bonus increased from +25 to +30. This is a straight swap of five agility for five damage. For most heroes, agility contributed to both damage and armor, so the real effect is a net reduction in the tanking potential of the item. Pure damage output stays roughly the same but the defensive value drops slightly.
On heroes where armor matters a lot for survivability — like Phantom Assassin — the lower agility is a minor downgrade. On heroes who buy Butterfly purely for evasion and damage, it barely changes anything.
Urn of Shadows, Essence Distiller, Spirit Vessel — Stash Charges Removed
All three items no longer grant charges from nearby hero deaths when sitting in your stash. Previously you could buy the item, leave it in your stash, and accumulate charges you never actually needed to carry in your inventory. That passive accumulation is gone — you now have to carry the item to build charges from kills.
Practically, this mostly affects players who were min-maxing their inventory by leaving an early Urn in the stash while running different items. Now you have a choice: carry it and get charges, or sell it and move on. If you are on a support hero who uses Vessel, start carrying it as soon as the team starts getting kills.
Hurricane Pike — Shorter Thrust Duration
Hurricane Thrust buff duration decreased from 6s to 5s. A one-second reduction might not sound like much, but Hurricane Pike is a positioning and escape item — that one second is meaningful when you are using it to reposition in a teamfight or escape a dive. Still a strong situational item for ranged cores who need an escape, but slightly less forgiving to use.

7.41e Item Tier List (All Roles)
This tier list reflects what our Immortal boosters are building in the current meta, updated for 7.41e. It is focused on pub-climbing value — items that win games in normal MMR brackets, not just theoretical best-in-slot.
| Tier | Item | Role | Why It Is Strong |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Abyssal Blade | Carry / Offlane | +30 STR after buff, guaranteed stun, best lockdown item in game |
| S | Black King Bar | All cores | Unchanged, still mandatory in most physical carry builds |
| S | Eye of Skadi | Ranged carry | 25% attack speed slow now — best kiting item in the game |
| S | Aghanim’s Scepter | Mid / Support | Unchanged, OD buff in 7.41e makes Scepter even more impactful on INT heroes |
| A | Battle Fury | Melee carry | Unchanged, still core on Juggernaut, Anti-Mage, Sven — no nerfs |
| A | Veil of Discord | Support | 25 mana cost now — basically free, strong in spell-heavy lineups |
| A | Daedalus | Carry | Unchanged. Physical burst still wins pub games |
| A | Hand of Midas | Carry / Offlane | +40 attack speed now, strong early buy for fast farmers |
| A | Gleipnir | Mid / Carry | Recipe cost decreased 400 to 300 — slightly cheaper, same power |
| B | Satanic | Carry | Still great lifesteal but 40s cooldown hurts fights every 30-40s |
| B | Butterfly | Agility carry | Stat swap reduces armor value slightly — still core on most AGI carries |
| B | Kaya | INT carry | Mana regen amp nerfed to 20% — feel the mana pressure more now |
| B | Refresher Orb | Core / Support | Unchanged — still viable if you have a refresh-worthy ultimate |
| C | Refresher Shard | All | Lost all bonus stats — only buy if the cooldown reset itself wins fights |
| C | Divine Rapier (x2+) | INT carry | Multi-stack spell amp dead — second Rapier is dead gold now |
| C | Mask of Madness (ranged) | Ranged carry | Less move speed, less slow resist — melee MoM unchanged and still A-tier |
| D | Kaya and Sange | INT / STR mid | 30% mana regen amp down from 40% — significantly weaker for mana-hungry heroes |
Which Heroes Win and Lose from These Items
Heroes Who Benefit Most in 7.41e
Troll Warlord
Troll is the biggest winner of 7.41e. He got a direct hero buff (base agility +1, Battle Trance now grants 35% slow resistance), and the item changes amplify this. Abyssal Blade strength buff helps his tankiness. Melee MoM is unchanged so his attack speed build is intact. Eye of Skadi’s stronger slow gives him better kiting on ranged stance. If you want a safe, consistent carry in pubs right now, Troll Warlord into Abyssal — Skadi or Daedalus is one of the cleanest builds in the game.
Dragon Knight
DK got a direct hero buff (Wyrm’s Wrath AoE increased significantly) and Abyssal Blade’s strength buff directly improves his already str-heavy build. He was already good for MMR grinding — see our boosting stats — and 7.41e makes his core items slightly stronger.
Outworld Destroyer
OD got one of the biggest hero buffs this patch: Objurgation now has an instant cast and no longer cancels movement, the barrier was buffed at level 1 and 2, and the cooldown decreased. OD was already a situationally broken mid pick against intelligence-heavy lineups. The Scepter path is extremely strong now. OD into Aghanim — Bloodthorn is a pub-stomping build right now.
Queen of Pain
Direct hero buff: damage from two Sonic Waves cast in quick succession now stacks. This is a massive buff to her ultimate burst potential — if you have a way to cast Sonic Wave twice (Refresher Orb, Octarine Core reducing cooldown enough), the damage output is enormous. She loses a bit from Kaya nerfs on mana regen, but the Sonic Wave stacking buff outweighs it. QoP mid is very strong in 7.41e.
Gyrocopter
Homing Missile mana cost normalized to 120 at all levels (used to scale to 150), cooldown decreased significantly at higher levels. Gyro’s item builds are unaffected by the nerfs. He builds Aghanim, Heaven’s Halberd situationally, and right-click items that are all unchanged or buffed. A solid pub carry choice.
Heroes Who Lose in 7.41e
Zeus
Zeus was the hero most affected by the multi-Rapier spell amp stacking removal. The game plan of buying two Divine Rapiers to hit 60%+ spell amplification is gone. Zeus still works fine as a first Rapier buyer, but his theoretical ceiling in ultra-long games dropped. Combine this with his base intelligence nerf (Shadow Fiend-adjacent note: Zeus players often transition to SF late) and Zeus is slightly weaker at 60+ minute game states. He is still a strong mid laner — just do not plan around buying multiple Rapiers.
Shadow Fiend
Got hit in 7.41e with two direct nerfs: base intelligence decreased from 18 to 16, and Shadowraze stack duration decreased from 7s to 6s. The stack duration nerf means you have less time to accumulate razes before the buff falls off — timing windows are tighter. The intelligence nerf hurts early mana pool. SF is still a top-tier mid pick but needs more careful mana management now.
Drow Ranger
Multishot got hit significantly: mana cost increased at all levels (50 to 70 at level 1), arrow range reworked, base damage bonus decreased from 100/120/140/160% to 80/100/120/140%. This is a notable nerf to her wave-clear and burst potential. Combined with the ranged Mask of Madness nerf, Drow is in a worse spot than she was in 7.41d. She still works as a right-click carry but her peak power level is lower.
Clockwerk
Power Cogs got gutted: mana burn decreased, cogs travel distance decreased, cogs vision halved, and they no longer block creep camps. The creep camp block was a massive reason people drafted Clockwerk — you could lock down neutral camps and create a farm advantage. Without it, Cogs is just a vision tool. Clockwerk is significantly weaker in 7.41e.
Snapfire
Multiple nerfs across the board: Scatterblast point blank bonus decreased, Firesnap Cookie impact damage decreased at all levels, Mortimer Kisses damage and several talents nerfed. Snapfire was a dominant support in the TI 2026 meta and Valve clearly targeted her. She is still playable but is no longer the first-pick support she was a few weeks ago.
What to Buy Right Now for MMR
Here is the practical breakdown for each role in 7.41e:
Carry (Position 1)
Priority builds: Phase Boots or Power Treads — Battle Fury or Midas — Abyssal Blade — Skadi or Daedalus — BKB as needed.
Physical right-click builds are in a great spot. Abyssal Blade is now slightly better than it was last patch. Skadi’s slow is stronger. Do not build MoM unless you are on a melee hero. Satanic is still good but be aware of the 40-second cooldown — plan your fights around it.
Mid (Position 2)
For INT mids: Bottle — Power Treads — Aghanim’s Scepter — Bloodthorn or Blink Dagger — Rapier (first only). Do not double Rapier. Watch your mana regen since Kaya family items give less regen now — consider an early Point Booster or Perseverance if you are running dry.
For physical mid (SF, DK, Troll): Standard right-click builds are buffed. Abyssal Blade on str/melee mids is excellent. SF needs to manage mana better — consider Blink Dagger over early Ethereal Blade for a more reliable initiation tool.
Offlane (Position 3)
Abyssal Blade is arguably the best 4th-5th item in the game for any STR offlaner right now. The strength buff makes it noticeably beefier. Blink Dagger — Blademail — BKB remains the core initiation pattern that wins pubs. Add Abyssal as your kill-securing item.
Support (Position 4/5)
Veil of Discord is an excellent buy in any lineup with multiple spell casters — 25 mana cost makes it trivially cheap to use every fight. Urn of Shadows is still strong but carry it — do not leave it in the stash. If you were buying Refresher Shard for the stat value, stop — buy Buckler or a Wraith Band equivalent instead and save your gold for a Mekansm.
| Role | Core Item Change | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Carry | Abyssal Blade stronger (+4 STR), Skadi slow better | Prioritize Abyssal in every right-click build |
| INT carry / mid | Kaya mana regen nerfed, multi-Rapier dead | Buy only one Rapier max; add mana regen item if playing INT core |
| Offlaner | Abyssal buffed, Refresher Shard gutted | Abyssal as kill-closer; do not buy Shard for stats |
| Support | Veil of Discord cheap to cast, Urn no stash charges | Veil in spell-heavy lineups; carry Urn in inventory |
